The found of this company Orville Gibson manufactured mandolins in Kalamazoo, Michigan during the 1890s. Orville Gibson invented the archtop guitar using the same carved, arched tops used in the violins. By the 1930s, Gibson started making flattop acoustic guitars and the first commercially available hollow-body electric guitars, these guitars were used and popularized by famous guitarist Charlie Christian.
During the early 1950s, Gibson Guitars came up with its first solid-body electric guitar and its most successful products till now, the Les Paul. The Gibson black electric guitars in this range are liked by a large number of people worldwide.
