Electric Guitars – A flash back story
Earlier, the electric guitars were used by only the jazz guitarists who experimented hollow bodied instruments in order to produce a louder sound in ‘Swing-era’ big bands. At that time, the electric guitars used to be hollow bodied acoustic instruments having tungsten steel pickups.
These black electric guitars were manufactured by the Rickenbacker Company in 1931. Les Paul invented one of the first solid body electric guitars. It was the first commercially successful solid-body musical instrument.
The electric guitar played an important role in the development of various musical styles emerging since the ear of 1940s like ‘Chicago blues’ early rock and roll and the ‘blues rock’ in 1960s. Also, the electric guitar is used in a range of other music genres like country music, new age and in other contemporary classical music.
